You're fighting an increased damage / knockback sponge that partially turns the game into a counting / micromanagement exercise.ĭMC5 partially fixes this by still having reasonable knockback mechanics while enemies are DT'd.I have prided myself on beating DmD on this game without the need of demon dodge or DT. It's the same enemy where now the fight is just extended longer and you have to count more.ĭuring DMD enemy DT, you aren't fighting like, a more pissed off enemy that changes up what it's doing to try to fight you in a different / interesting / harder way. The enemies get a MASSIVE defense boost during DT, which is okay if the launch mechanic above was not stupid.Įnemy behavior otherwise DOES NOT CHANGE during DT. Again, each class of enemy has a different # for their respective launcher / knockback. It adds another layer of multi-enemy step counting you have to do, on top of managing everything else you're managing.

Now do that with a new wave of enemies coming in, and enemies all jumping around / looking similar in color. You have to remember what counter that particular Lust was, and keep track of them throughout the whole battle. So if you are not exactly hitting that exact Lust with the 4th knockback / launch move with a High Time, you just missed your window to air combo them. Each enemy has a different knockback value, so a Hell Pride may take like, 3 knock back hits to launch, but a Hell Lust will take 4. You now need to do X # of knock back / launcher movies in order to get 1 of them to register, then the counter restarts. This would not be a problem, if their launch / stun mechanics while DT'd did not fundamentally change. Now in DMC3, if you mismanaged your enemies and did not evenly damage all enemies in the group uniformly, you will end up with 1-2 enemies that are SUPER tanky and annoying to kill at the end of each group (see #2 and #3 below), they're basically time sucks. Not so in DMC1, where enemies DT only after a certain period of time, and you could counteract their DT'd tankiness by DT'ing yourself, which makes a lot of sense. Here are a few reasons why DMC3 DMD is not well-designed:Įnemy DT mechanics - when you kill X # of enemies, or you use up too long time, the remaining enemies auto-DT. My rant from another thread on this topic:
